Tuna Fish Pie Recipe

Fish pie is a winter favourite, and a great family meal.

This fish pie recipe is simple and delicious – the perfect combination!

Serves 4


  • 4 large potatoes
  • 300mL milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 185g smoked tuna tins, drained
  • ½ cup corn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • ¼ cup grated tasty cheese
  • 3 tablespoons breadcrumbs

Method: Preheat grill on high.

Boil potatoes until tender. Mash the potatoes with 50mL of milk, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Set aside, cover and keep warm.

Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pot on a medium heat. Once melted, take off heat, add the flour and stir quickly. Add a tablespoon of milk, place back on heat and stir until mixture is thick again. Continue to add a little bit of a milk at a time, stirring until mixture thickens before adding a little more, until all the milk is used.

dd the tuna, corn, parsley and half the cheese and simmer on heat for 5 min, stirring.

Pour tuna mixture into an ovenproof dish, spreading evenly. Add mashed potato on top, then sprinkle with breadcrumbs and remaining cheese. Grill for 2 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve.
