Poisonous Plants: Foxglove

Foxglove is a biennial plant that is common in gardens. It doesn’t need a lot of soil to survive, and is often found on pastures that are dry and hilly.

The entire foxglove plant is toxic to livestock, so if any pastures contain the plant, it should be removed. When removing the plant, take care of dumping it in pastures. Even dried foxglove is toxic.

While foxglove has a bitter taste that puts most livestock off, cattle have been known to eat it regardless. Symptoms of foxglove poisoning include vomiting, convulsions, drooling, and an irregular heartbeat.
